Marketing Special Projects Manager Fully Remote - US

Marketing Special Projects Manager

Full Time • Fully Remote - US

This is a unique marketing role that works directly with our Founder & CEO, Clint Smith.

A few words from Clint about this role:

I’ll get straight to the point. I’m looking for a key partner to work directly with me on our most important marketing initiatives. This isn’t your typical marketing role, and I’m not looking for a typical marketer.

When I started CareerPlug from my apartment, I knew I valued hard work and a desire to build something special. A decade later, that’s still true, but our mission has grown: we want to empower people to reach their potential. We do that by providing innovative recruiting and HR software to over 60,000 growing companies — particularly those who are part of a franchise system or similar network of small businesses.

Right now, CareerPlug is at a critical point in our growth. We have an immediate need to drive new franchise partnership opportunities through targeted outreach, which is one of our top strategies for growth. We have the strategy, but I need an executional powerhouse to help me turn those ideas into action. That’s where you come in.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing:
As my right hand on these projects, you’ll act as a hybrid marketing specialist and project manager. Your core objective is to orchestrate high-priority marketing projects that drive measurable growth and support me in moving our strategic initiatives from idea to completion.

Here’s a glimpse of how you’ll spend your time:

  • Driving Partner Growth (50% of your time): You will be the engine for our partner outreach. This includes managing direct outreach and my LinkedIn presence, researching prospects, sending personalized messages and gifts on my behalf, and coordinating all the logistics for our sales "roadshow" campaigns to ensure our Account Executives are set up for success.
  • Executing Marketing Projects (40% of your time): You’ll be the project manager for a variety of marketing initiatives. This means keeping projects on track and ensuring I know the status of everything in motion. You’ll also have your hands on our website, blog, and online reputation, making sure our digital presence is healthy, up-to-date, and represents our brand well.
  • Serving as a Central Marketing Liaison (10% of your time): You’ll coordinate with our internal teams to field and execute marketing requests, ensuring our sales and partnerships teams have the collateral they need and our external partners have a great experience.

Who I’m Looking For:
I’m looking for a specific kind of person for this role. You’re not just joining a company; you’re partnering with me to hit our most important goals.

  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action and results. You think like a Chief of Staff or an EA, always thinking two steps ahead and finding resourceful ways to move projects forward.
  • You love project management. You can juggle multiple priorities and deadlines without breaking a sweat, and you thrive on bringing order to chaos.
  • You’re a strong writer and communicator. You can produce persuasive marketing copy and are comfortable collaborating with and representing executives.
  • You’re likely early in your career but hungry to grow. You have at least 3+ years of related experience in an area like growth, digital, or content marketing and are ready to expand your skill set. You might not have marketing experience, but are eager to learn! Outside of marketing, EA, Chief of Staff, and Project Manager experience would be a great fit for this role. Experience in the franchise industry, in marketing or franchise operations, or with tools like HubSpot and LinkedIn is a huge plus.
  • You’re also comfortable using AI tools to get work done faster and smarter. Whether it’s drafting outreach copy, researching prospects, or organizing project workflows, you see AI as an accelerator for execution. At CareerPlug, our goal is to empower personal and professional growth by exploring, learning, and applying AI tools to make work easier and more enjoyable — and to set you up for future success. You don’t need to be an expert, but you should be eager to apply AI day-to-day to turn strategy into action and deliver tangible results.
This role is your chance to make an immediate impact on our highest-priority growth strategy and expand my capacity on other critical projects at CareerPlug. If you’ve been craving a role with autonomy where you can be part of something bigger than yourself, I encourage you to apply. Cover letter strongly encouraged.
